Wearing a good quality mask which is suitable for its intended use will reduce the spread of COVID-19 virus which is spread by Person-to-person through airborne droplets from one person’s respiratory tract through coughing, sneezing, talking, shouting or singing. These droplets are then breathed into the noses and mouths of people who are nearby the infected person who breathes them.
Masks are the most important basic equipment to help prevent droplets from the mouth and respiratory tract of infected people from entering the mouth and nose of the wearer. To prevent COVID-19 must all wear a mask. Choosing a good quality one is the best choice people can make because it protects you, others and society as a whole.
A trait of COVID-19 is that an infected person showing no symptoms at all can infect others. Wearing a mask therefore protects the wearer and those around the person who wears it as shown in Figure 1.
